So I noticed that Trisquel Mini and the normal Trisquel both use MATE in Trisquel 12, this used not to be the case, since Trisquel 11 used LXDE or XFCE in older versions.

I used a very modest hardware https://trisquel.info/es/samsung-chromebook-v1-kevin-review and I was having problems finding the right environment to use, but as soon as I tried Trisquel Mini I saw and enormous diferente.

I already tried the normal version of Trisquel, so it made me wonder, how normal Trsiquel and Mini differed to make such enormous diferencie given they both use MATE.

Some of the diferencies I noticed right away was less packages, like fewer LibreOffice apps, but mostly what I think it made the most diferencie was that the Mini doesn't use Compson which unless I mistaken is responsible for some of the visual effects on the windows. I think the lack of effects is what makes Mini most suitable for modest hardware.

Is there any other diferencie that makes Mini so light weight for a modest system? Is there a way to make regular Trisquel behave as Mini without effects maybe? Thank you.

Nope, that's not the case. Mini is LXDE.

All the mini people were beginning to believe we had been hallucinating LXDE panels for months.

Oh sorry, I was using tasksel to install desktops, and uninstalling them using the meta packages related to each environment but for some reason they were some how kept I guess.

My guess is that I ended up using the "MATE" desktop instead of "Trisquel", which I'm guessing deffer one from the other enough to make it seem smother.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess it all comes down to weather or not I'm using Compton or not.
