So, we are at it again: Root partition too small - can't install software

On a totally fresh install of T12 (in a VM), I have updated the software packages, installed flatpak, ibvdvcss.

Already then I was alarmed that disk space was low so I ran autoremove.

Now that I am trying to install handbrake (via flatpak), I get this:

Error: Not enough disk space to complete this operation
fejl: Failed to install org.gnome.Platform: Ved pulling af runtime/org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/3.36 fra eksternen flathub: opcode open-splice-and-close: opcode close: min-free-space-size 500MB would be exceeded, at least 117,1 kB requested

Two questions:

1) I know how to resize trisquel's default encrypted partition on my laptop, but how do I do it on a VM? (qemu through virt-manager)

2) Why on earth is trisquel's default encrypted root partition so small?

You'll have to transfer disk space from the host computer to the LVM.

Look up increasing disk size of an LVM. It's fairly easy.

Once you increase the disk size, start up the VM, start up parted or gparted, and add the new unallocated space to root. To be absolutely safe, you could backup root beforehand, but I didn't bother when I did this with my VM.

Exactly the same way. The only additional thing is to add in virt-manager the fake USB device with the live USB iso as a disk for the VM and set the boot order to start from it and not the disk of the installed VM, then you can apply exactly the same (device names will be different, see what lsblk shows) and once you are done with resizing, switch the VM off and remove the live USB device.
