Free as in freedom Windows emulator (Wine)

Hello to everyone.
Does exist a free as in freedom emulator of Windows programs for Trisquel? Thank you in advance for the attention.
Wine, as you wrote in your title.
Wine itself may have a free license, but don't users have to download non-free dll's and Windows system programs to actually use wine to run Windows applications?
Not always... sometimes yes though.
Depends on what you trying to run.
I haven't had to on my devuan gaming computer with anything but what wine offers to get what I want working.
Unless of course you mean like the launcher for some games of course.
Like for some games that would be battle.net
Just as an example.
Nailed it. I wouldn't call Wine free if your purpose is to run nonfree softtware on top of it, because the vast majority of nonfree software will not work (or will barely work) when using Wine libraries, that's because in order to get software to run properly on Wine you need to write and compile it for Wine libraries specifically, with Wine Mono, the dotNET re-implementation being the most obvious example.

Is wine doing this automatically or is it something that the user would need to do? I just installed Notepad++ (GPLv2) with wine, it seems to work fine.
Even if the program is free software, if its only purpose is to load non free programs then it’s not considered free software as per the FSF and presumably the Trisquel project. So I guess this goal is impossible unless we get the source code to the Windows packages.
Wine is free software and there exists free software running on top of Wine, for example Notepad++ that Avron installed: https://trisquel.info/forum/free-freedom-windows-emulator-wine#comment-183562
Good to know. Then it's a valuable addition to the arsenal, I guess.
